How to Choose a Rug

Knowing how to select the right rug is crucial for achieving a successful room design, especially in the living room. Rugs have the power to instantly enhance the visual appeal, texture, and comfort of any space. However, with a wide range of options available, there are several factors to consider when searching for the ideal rug.

For optimal results, it is recommended to choose a living room rug that extends at least 15 inches beyond the length of your sofa. Additionally, the width of the rug should be sufficient to allow it to sit comfortably beneath the front legs of the sofa. It should also span across the majority width of the room, creating a sense of balance and proportion within the space.

When it comes to your bedroom, for a spacious room, opt for a large rug that fits under the entire bed and night tables, with extra width on either side. For smaller rooms, the rug should cover roughly ⅓ of the bed’s base; alternatively, try small area rugs on either side of the bed.
