Palmette has been created for Decorex 2024. Ellen Merchant has partnered with the leading trade show, reimagining their branding ahead of the October event. The design’s fan-shaped flower motif is inspired by a classical Greek ornament derived from a palm leaf as a nod to the venue’s namesake Olympia London, while the undulating wiggly lines give a contrasting retro feel. Printed on a heavyweight linen in two colour-ways ‘Citrine’ and ‘Beryl’, Palmette caters to both warm and cool palettes.

About the Brand

Drawing from a profound love of pattern and print, Ellen Merchant creates uplifting original interior textiles with a decorative aesthetic that pays homage to the British Arts and Crafts movement. Having trained at the Royal College of Art, Ellen established her London studio in 2021 with a mission to offer timeless, quality interior textiles and homeware.

Ellen Merchant takes a slow and considered approach to both design and production, choosing to work exclusively with local craftsmen and factories in England. By prioritising the integrity of traditional print processes and high quality materials, Ellen aims to demonstrate the joyful, enduring value of craft and quality over mass production. In January 2024 Ellen relocated from London to the ancient town of Winchelsea on the coast of East Sussex, where she has set up a design and upholstery studio with her husband, as well as her eponymous homeware shop and showroom on the High Street.
