David Holmes (1933-2018) was a British painter and illustrator. Born in Chelsea, London, he trained at Ealing Technical College and The Central School of Art. Following a career in advertising, he devoted his time to painting, focusing on the coastal and harbour scenes of Hampshire. He lived on Hayling Island and became an iconic local artist, renowned for capturing the maritime atmosphere of the coastline. A well-loved figure, he frequently supported and taught local artists in the area.
