A ‘yoke’ is traditionally known to be a piece of timber in the form of a bar used to join two animals - usually cattle or oxen - to work in unison. In broader meaning, it is an object used to closely link one with another - whether that be strangers, or loved ones. Made in bleached solid ash, featuring wedged turned bobbin legs and hand-planed chamfered edges. Finished in clear oil. Grain patterns will vary slightly due to the nature of working with natural materials.

About Thomas Veryard

After graduating from the University of Sheffield with a degree in Furniture Design, Thomas Veryard discovered his passion for hands-on furniture making, preferring the workshop to the studio. This dedication to traditional craftsmanship led him to a position as a maker at the esteemed Matthew Cox furniture company. During his four years at Matthew Cox, Thomas developed an expert skill set in handcrafted furniture, collaborating on bespoke pieces for many of the UK's leading interior designers. Working closely with master craftsmen, he refined his techniques in custom furniture design, further deepening his love for the craft.
Today, Thomas has launched his own furniture design studio – Thomas Veryard – where he brings a modern sensibility to traditional woodworking methods. His growing collection includes timeless, elegant pieces that celebrate craftsmanship, detail, and functional design.
