Cayena Placemat

Handwoven from natural iraca palm in the artisan town of Usiacurí, our Cayena Placemat is part of CasaLatina’s Organic Shapes Capsule, alongside the Camelia and Hoja designs. Defined by its sculptural flower silhouette, Cayena embodies the expressive craftsmanship that makes Usiacurí weaving so distinctive.

Inspired by the vibrant hibiscus flower found along Colombia’s Caribbean coast, this placemat is shaped using a traditional internal wire structure, a technique characteristic of Usiacurí artisans. This hidden framework allows the palm fibres to form its elegant, petal-like curves while maintaining durability and structure.

Compact in size, Cayena is particularly suited to smaller tables, breakfast settings or more intimate dining arrangements, where its organic form adds visual interest without overwhelming the space. Lightweight, sustainably sourced and entirely handwoven, it brings a refined sense of movement and softness to the table.
