About Chickpea

CHICKPEA was founded by textile designer and maker Harriett Grist, who started her business in a small garden studio in Winchester. With a deep passion for textiles and craftsmanship, Harriett's creative journey began early, inspired by her mother, a former dressmaker, who taught her the value of handmade quality. Today, Harriett draws inspiration from a variety of sources, including everyday objects, the geometric shapes of stationery, and the vibrant colours and textures of the natural world.

The name CHICKPEA holds personal significance, stemming from affectionate nicknames Harriett and her two sisters shared - 'chicken' and 'pea.' While the brand name reflects her family ties, Harriett’s designs are also deeply connected to her sense of home. Many of her products are named after roads or historical figures associated with Winchester, grounding the brand in its origins.

Harriett’s collections combine style with functionality, offering unique, eye-catching patterns that bring a burst of colour to any space, while prioritising comfort and cosiness. CHICKPEA’s ethos centres on creating high-quality, handmade products that enhance everyday living. Harriett’s attention to detail and love for design make CHICKPEA a brand that celebrates both beauty and practicality, perfect for transforming any home.
